Welcome and Mission Statement

Welcome to the Kingston Chase Conservation CORPS Blog! The KC Conservation CORPS serves the 500-plus-family community of Kingston Chase in Herndon, VA.

The mission of the Conservation CORPS is to:
a)    increase the value and attractiveness of our community through beautifying our physical surroundings,
b)    decrease energy consumption and costs,
c)    instill an appreciation for the richness of our natural surroundings and our relationship to it.
We engage in this mission with a commitment to an inclusive community – these initiatives are meant to bring homeowners together, regardless of their interest in conservation or involvement in the CORPS.

Our name, Conservation CORPS, reflects the methods by which we will engage our mission:

Communication to homeowners of events in our community that have a conservation focus or aspect, and of timely information regarding gardening and lawn care, receycling, water conservation, and living with suburban wildlife .

Organization  of community events within our neighborhood, as well as coordination of other events which allow residents to become active stewards of our communal land.

Resources for residents interested in implementing conservation techniques and tools in their homes. These are primarily web site links indicated in the Crier and on the KCHOA website.

Programs for homeowners and their children which promote conservation-concious lifestyles. This includes hosting presentations and workshops of interest to KC homeowners.

Service to our neighborhood and community either directly or by accessing people and groups willing to help. An example of this is the storm drain labeling project completed last fall.
